Jan-Peter de Graaff: Concerto Metropolitain
RO NOW adds sparkle to your weekend. Treat yourself to top musical works that will make your ears prick up. With an illuminating intro from the conductor, illustrated by the orchestra with some examples. This way you feel and experience more while listening. During this edition we serve poetic versatility with Scriabin’s Rêverie, Sibelius’ iconic Fifth Symphony and the world premiere of Jan-Peter de Graaff’s Concerto Metropolitain. The evening opens with a musical translation of a dream: in Reverie, Scriabin makes the orchestra sing, whisper and glitter in the most moving way. Then it is the turn of De Graaff’s world premiere: Concerto Metropolitan. As a composer, De Graaff brings an enormous physical experience to his music. In this composition, the young, dynamic Amsterdam saxophone quartet builds a sparkling sound world together with the orchestra. Finally, you will hear a spectacular masterpiece from Sibelius’ symphonic repertoire: the Fifth Symphony. An ode to life and beauty after setbacks. This concert is in collaboration with Festival Dag in de Branding.
Concerto Metropolitain by Jan-Peter de Graaff was made possible by the Performing Arts Fund and Société Gavigniès.
