Jan van de Putte: Uma só Divina Linha
Quirky makers of today such as Chaya Czernowin, Saad Haddad and the Dutchman Jan van de Putte alongside twentieth-century mavericks Ives and Xenakis.
In biochemistry, “free radicals” pose a danger to cells and tissues. In music, they offer the opportunity to enter a different sound world. Asko|Schönberg presents five of these unorthodox spirits, who manage to break away from conventions and expectations. They play with our time perception, challenge us to embrace microtonal intervals and integrate non-musical sounds into their dramaturgy. In addition to today’s idiosyncratic makers such as Chaya Czernowin, Saad Haddad and the Dutchman Jan van de Putte (with a vocal tribute to Pessoa), works by twentieth-century mavericks Ives and Xenakis can be heard. Tension assured!
Quote from The New Yorker: Czernowin composes the negative beauty of disaster; it is the musical equivalent of Picasso’s “Guernica” or Anselm Kiefer’s “Margarethe.”
