Jan Vriend & Patrick van Deurzen
In the second Thunder Days concert we go big with a piano recital in the XXL category – four pianists and two pianos who are given carte blanche. In fact, it concerns exclusively Dutch repertoire, a program that celebrates the versatility of contemporary Dutch piano music. Starting with a world premiere by Robin de Raaff.
In addition to Raaff’s new work, there are “signature” works for solo piano by Jan Vriend and Patrick van Deurzen: individual, outspoken, narrative. This also applies to Dark Familiar, Vanessa Lann’s magnum opus – a kind of ode but also a reflection on a solo work by Brahms – commissioned by the Doelenensemble.
