Jesse Passenier: Entrust & Inspire (premiere)
Accordion and violin, that is asking for new music, far from the folklore with which the combination was stuck for a long time to an atmosphere of folk dances, traditional costumes and brown cafes. Brother and sister Van Amsterdam have always enjoyed shaking things up. Vincent went through the accordion world like a whirlwind and won the Dutch Classical Talent Award in 2016. Vincent and Jeanine have been a musical duo since 2004 and already won prizes at the National Accordion Competition that same season. Five years later they won the National Accordion and Chamber Music Competition. In recent years, the Van Amsterdam Duo has sought to collaborate with contemporary composers. Such as with Jesse Passenier, who has roots in classical music and jazz, and was winner of the Rogier van Otterloo Award in 2017. Bonus: violin and accordion have a graceful and stubborn character, so it’s nice if their players feel each other in every key and string stroke.
