Jesse Passenier: Entrust & Inspire (premiere)

The Van Amsterdam Duo (VAD) has been a household name for over 10 years. Brother and sister, Vincent and Jeanine van Amsterdam, are perfectly attuned to each other, one on accordion and the other on violin. The Duo presents a fresh program in which the boundaries of both instruments are explored. Overarching in all works are the expressive rhythmic elements and exciting influences from styles other than classical music. Many of the pieces on the program have been written especially for this combination of instruments, such as works by the Belgian composer Eddy Flecijn, the Polish composer Mikołaj Majkusiak and Jesse Passenier from the Netherlands. The premiere of Jesse Passenier’s new work seeks the interface between impressionism, tango, jazz and contemporary techniques. The work will also have influences from the composers Nadia Boulanger (Paris 1887-1979) and the Argentinian Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992).

Elena Langer: Seasons

Pianist Katya Apekisheva elegantly intertwines one of Tchaikovsky’s most charming compositions with the 2025 premiere of Elena Langer’s “Seasons.” Inspired by the evocative poetry of Philip Larkin, Langer’s work offers a contemporary dialogue with Tchaikovsky’s beloved cycle.
