Jobina Tinnemans: Salomé

Piano piece Salomé by Jobina Tinnemans on a 6 hour piano marathon by Fidan Aghayeva-Edler at the Sonic Matter Festival.

Pianist Fidan Aghayeva-Edler has spent years researching forgotten piano works by female composers and commissioning new pieces for her instrument to strengthen the voices of women in the concert world. In marathon concerts lasting up to 24 hours, she performs this repertoire—alternating with contributions from actress Mareike Hein, who recites texts, creates live drawings inspired by the music, or invites the audience to participate in small intermezzos. This creates a seemingly timeless space in which the works of these female composers can finally unfold to their full potential.

On the program compositions by Asia Ahmetjanova, Anna Bon di Venezia, Mel Bonis, Henriëtte Bosmans, Lili Boulanger, Diana Čemerytė, Carolyn Chen, Chaya Czernowin, Elisabetta de Gambarini, Odaline de la Martinez, Marti Epstein, inti figgis-vizueta, Konstantia Gourzi, Rahilia Hasanova, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Hannah Kendall, Vanessa Lann, Liza Lim, Clare Loveday, Dariya Maminova, Ursula Mamlok, Bunita Marcus, Meredith Monk, Naomi Pinnock, Katharina Rosenberger, Kaija Saariaho, Sarvenaz Safari, Clara Schumann, Julia Schwartz, Caroline Shaw, Verdina Shlonsky, Linda Catlin Smith, Jobina Tinnemans, Aleksandra Vrebalov, Helena Winkelman & Theresa Wong.
