Every year all composers in the Netherlands are celebrated during the national composer’s day. Who better for De Doelen to celebrate this day with than the DoelenEnsemble? They celebrate composers with Rotterdam roots in a special program that is not made for the concert hall, but for beyond it.
Alvin Curran’s Open Airs were specially written to be played in every conceivable place – except the concert hall. These airs form the ideal framework for a wide range of music with Rotterdam roots. It immediately becomes clear that we have a lot to celebrate on this composer’s day, because Rotterdam’s legacy is great. From one of the most famous Dutch composers Joey Roukens to Edward Top and upcoming Codarts students Asim Singh Halwarvi and Nilo van Kralingen, both winners of a composition competition at Codarts: the composer is alive and well in Rotterdam!
This is a free concert, but please reserve a ticket.
