Joey Roukens: Percussion Concerto
Finally a percussion concert! Under the slogan “The Great Battle” we continue to invite world stars; in this case Colin Currie, whom the Polar Prize-winning composer Steve Reich described as “one of the greatest musicians in the world today”, and who regularly appears with the world’s leading orchestras and ensembles such as the London Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. On March 25, 2022, he premiered at the Royal Festival Hall, London, a long-awaited, newly written percussion concert written by his good friend Danny Elfman. Currie will perform Joey Roukens’ Percussion Concerto written for him!
Rising star Chloé van Soeterstède is attracting the attention of orchestras worldwide for her intuitive, sensitive, expressive music-making and her positive stage presence. She is repeatedly praised for her attention to detail, her energy and enthusiasm and efficiency in rehearsals, and the coming seasons bring many debuts in Europe and North America.
