Johan Wagenaar: Romantisch intermezzo / Sinfonietta

On Sunday afternoon, December 7th, Arnhem Sinfoniëtta will give a festive concert at the Zandse Kerk in Huissen. In the summer of 2024, the orchestra performed a film music program there to a sold-out audience. This time, the orchestra will perform music that is less well-known, but just as beautiful and surprising.

The highlight of the concert is the beautiful Horn Concerto by Franz Joseph Strauss. This work is accompanied by two early compositions by his much more famous son, Richard Strauss: a cheerful festive march and the serenade for wind instruments. The orchestra will also play two pieces by the Dutch composer Johan Wagenaar. The concert will conclude with an exuberant Concert Waltz by Alexander Glazunov. An attractive and varied program with a starring role for the orchestra’s wind instruments!
