Johannes Bastiaans: Melodisch Offer / Harmonie der Spheren

Born and raised in Wilp in 1812, Johannes Bastiaans became a renowned composer and organist with an extensive oeuvre of liturgical and chamber music. A former student of Felix Mendelssohn, his works are published by Donemus.

In 2025/2026, exactly 150 seasons after his death in 1875, the Dorpskerk in Wilp is honoring his legacy with two special concerts. Following a performance of his liturgical works on October 26, the second tribute will take place on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in the same historic church.

This performance is organized as a special addition to the “Jonge Meesters Wilp” chamber music series. Musicologist Jan ten Bokum, an expert on Bastiaans’ life and work, will provide a brief introduction.

The concert will be performed by the talented Eurydice Trio, featuring Bastiaans’ compositions Melodisch Offer and Harmonie der Spheren, alongside trios by Haydn and Beethoven.
