Karel Goeyvaerts: Several Works
Once every few years a composer stands up and rediscovers music. When Karel Goeyvaerts presented his sonata for two pianos in Darmstadt in the early 1950s, he caused a small culture shock. Even after that, he restlessly and curiously continued to push boundaries and tumble over them. In 2023 it will be 100 years ago that this brilliant sound maker saw the light of day. In a unique storytelling concert, musicologist Mark Delaere, pianist Jan Michiels and the musicians of I SOLISTI pay tribute to perhaps Belgium’s most important composer. With notes by Goeyvaerts and musical homages by Tim Mulleman and Benjamin Van Esser.
