Katia Tiutiunnik: Prayer for viola

Aoise O’Dwyer is passionate about discovering and performing music for solo viola written by women composers. Beginning as a commitment to include works by women composers in every recital during her Masters studies, this interest has deepened over the years and in 2023 Aoise was awarded an Arts Council Agility Award to support further research in this area. This recital is the culmination of her research and it will be an opportunity to enjoy works by composers Imogen Holst (England), Maria Newman (USA), Leilehua Lanzilotti (Hawai’i), Jessie Montgomery (USA), Valeria Romero (Argentina), Katia Tiutiunnik (Australia) and Selin Gökova (Turkey). Come and discover the unique contribution these women have made to the world of classical and contemporary music, and immerse yourself in the sound world of the viola as a solo instrument!
Aoise O’Dwyer is a graduate of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and MTU Cork School of Music. She has worked extensively as a chamber musician and as an orchestral musician with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra and Irish National Opera.
This performance is funded by Offaly County Council Arts Office, Ireland
