Kris Oelbrandt by cellist Mischa Maisky
Composer Kris Oelbrandt was commissioned by the Dominican Monastery to write a new work on confession. It takes its title – “The Crack” – from the well-known Leonard Cohen song: “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
The piece will premiere on October 6, the day after the Day of Atonement in Judaism, by world famous cellist Mischa Maisky. In addition to its music, the Oneiros Ensemble plays the moving “Kol Nidrei” and there is a dialogue between a Christian and Jewish thinker around the question: how do you find reconciliation?
