Kris Oelbrandt: Monologue

The arpeggione, an almost forgotten instrument, has a very subtle, delicate sound. Nicolas Deletaille, ambassador for the instrument, commissioned many composers to write new music for the instrument. My “Monologue” explores the wide range and multiple playing techniques of this intriguing instrument. Jeroen den Herder plays the piece on a very comparable five-string cello.
