Lecture ‘The unknown Ten Holt’
Comedian and Ten Holt biographer Arie Vuyk delves into the repertoire of Simeon ten Holt, who would have turned 100 this year. Almost everyone knows this composer’s Canto Ostinato, but his other works are much less known. Even though the oeuvre can be divided into different periods, a coherent development can be seen in his work. In three quarters of an hour, Arie Vuyk explains how Ten Holt arrived at his unique style. The work ‘Shadow nor Prey’ in particular is highlighted, perhaps the highlight of Ten Holt’s repetitive compositions.
Lecture is a part of the program of the Pianoduo Festival in Amsterdam.
