M. Vasalis & various composers

Vasalis, the pseudonym of psychiatrist Margaretha Droogleever Fortuijn-Leenmans, is one of the most widely read poets in Dutch literature. Despite her small oeuvre, her work inspired Dutch composers Leo Samama, Koos de Muinck, Rita Hijmans and the Flemish Bart van Kerchove to set her poems to music. This literary concert, part of pianist Biljana Urban’s project Concerts Littéraires, is the ultimate combination of music and literature. This afternoon you will hear, among others, Lous Droogleever Fortuijn, the daughter of Vasalis, reciting works by her mother.
