Lucas Wiegerink: Supermens Gezocht
SUPERMENS gezocht is an energetic, upbeat music-theatre production recommended for children aged six and up, built entirely around a custom live soundtrack by prominent composer Lucas Wiegerink. Created by Theater Sonnevanck and directed by Daniel van Klaveren, the play dives into the intense social pressures of fitting in while exploring how young people struggle to set personal boundaries. The story follows Chelsey on her first day at a new school. Seeking to make a good impression, she joins her classmates in a role-playing game involving a small shop and tries to be helpful to everyone. However, she soon finds it difficult to maintain her own rules as her peers test her patience and push the limits of her kindness. When her older sister steps in with a confrontational approach to defend her, Chelsey must navigate the complicated challenge of standing up for herself without making the social situation even more difficult. Lucas Wiegerink’s innovative musical score serves as the driving force behind this narrative, utilizing a striking and unconventional combination of bassoon and harp to mirror the emotional journey of the characters. Loosely inspired by Bertolt Brecht’s classic play The Good Person of Szechwan, the production translates complex philosophical questions about kindness in a competitive world into a humorous, highly relatable scenario for children. The show, powered by Wiegerink’s theatrical compositions and high-energy acting, tours Dutch theaters from October 3 through November 29, 2026.
