Marijn Simons: Piano Concerto Nr. 2 “Feuersäule”

Be there for the Belgian premiere of Marijn Simons’ concerto for piano and strings called Pillar of Fire. Emil Ciocoiu’s painting of the same name, which hangs in the concert hall, served as inspiration. The principal horn of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Laurens Woudenberg, will play Mozart’s 4th Horn Concerto.

Marijn Simons

Composer, conductor, and violinist Marijn Simons (The Netherlands, 1982) is the Artistic Director of the Liberme Chamber Orchestra and the chamber music series at the Liberme Castle in Belgium. In 2009, he founded the Simons Ensemble, with which he conducted several concerts and recordings. Since 2012, he has been Assistant Conductor at the Opernfestspiele Heidenheim.

In collaboration with the Conservatory of Amsterdam and docent Ralph van Raat, the Leiden Salon presents four concerts featuring Dutch (piano) music from the 20th century. Well-known and lesser-known composers will be featured. A nice touch is that three of these concerts will be given by (piano) students from abroad, a wonderful meeting of cultures.
