Martijn Padding: Organ Concerto (Reve Concerto)

On Thursday, March 7, the Dutch Music Prize will be awarded to Laurens de Man in Het Orgelpark. Reason enough for a party. This evening Laurens de Man will perform together with musicians from the New European Ensemble in Martijn Padding’s brand new organ concerto: ‘Organ Concerto (Reve Concert)’. The rarely performed Kammersymfonie no 7 by Paul Hindemith is also on the program.

The versatile musician De Man studied piano, organ and harpsichord at the Amsterdam Conservatory. He obtained the highest marks for his further studies at the University of the Arts in Berlin in 2019. In addition to his solo career, De Man is active as a pianist with the Chimaera Trio, where he plays and arranges chamber music from four centuries of music history. Since 2012, De Man has fulfilled the role of main organist in the Utrecht Janskerk and in the period 2022-2023 he was ‘Organist in Residence’ of the Contius organ in Leuven. He is also a minor classical piano teacher for jazz pianists at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and has been appointed principal subject teacher of organ at the Utrecht Conservatory since September 2023.

About the Dutch Music Prize
