Martyna Kosecka: Azar
On September 21, 2026, audiences in Germany will experience a performance of Āzar, a compelling work for saxophone quartet by Polish composer and researcher Martyna Kosecka. Inspired by her deep affection for and impressions of her second home country, Iran, Āzar (2018) is an intimate composition rich in timbral nuances and micro-polyphonic interactions. Kosecka’s music is highly regarded for its multidisciplinary approach, blending cross-cultural narratives, microtonality, and symbolism. This eight-minute piece beautifully showcases the expressive and textural depths of the contemporary saxophone quartet, performed by the renowned Stockholm Saxophone Quartet.
