Martyna Kosecka: Illud Tempus, Movements for violin & viola
Concert of the new generation of creators as part of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.
With Against, lovemusic highlights the musical creation of young artists from the north-east of Europe, mainly from Poland – the country which will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union from January to June 2025.
Borrowing from Kuba Krzewiński the title of his piece Against, this program presents five works for violin, viola, cello and electronics, which revolve around this word which can mean opposition as well as proximity and contact. Whether through the de(con)struction of a popular Polish song in Anna Sowa, the friction of sounds and textures in the pieces of Martyna Kosecka and Aleksandra Słyż, the hairs of bows directly stuck to the musicians’ arms in the trio by Asia Ahmetjanova or even the play of the body as instrument and the instrument as body by Kuba Krzewiński, all these approaches and aesthetics play on distance and the rapprochement, the opposites and the resemblances.
Against offers an immersive experience where the works deploy contrasting scenes between minimalist, repetitive, electronic music and physical performance, transforming listening into a multisensory experience. Resolutely experimental, Against invites us to leave conventions to enter a liberating parenthesis, far from the rhythm of everyday life.
