Martyna Kosecka: Weightlessness

“Weightlessness” for chamber ensemble is inspired by the works of Stanisław Lem and celebrates the centenary of his birth in 2021. The piece takes up the theme of weightlessness and the specific abstract thinking about the relationship between the pressure described in music – “heaviness of composed sounds” – and their dispersion in acoustic space. I was particularly inspired by the descriptions of space and gravity on the surface of Venus in Stanisław Lem’s book “Astronauts”, which are the subject of my personal musical interpretation and reflection. The piece was originally composed for and premiered by the United Instruments of Lucilin.
