Martyna Kosecka: Xénos
Xénos (meaning “Stranger,” in English) for cello and piano creates a sonic landscape where I focus on developing and creating unconventional timbral and harmonic passages evoking the ocean of sound possibilities in music. I call Xénos a six-step journey of two friends through different harmonic fields: some have connecting points, some have a potential to connect, and some have nothing in common.
Noises, cracks, pitches, harmonics, and multiphonics define the steps of this joint adventure: a greeting, an introductory conversation, hesitation, alienation, doubt, and finally, warm, melancholic loneliness.
