Maxim Kolomiiets: Espenbaum

The workshop ‘Points of Intersection’ involves the cooperation of four young symphonic conductors with an experienced mentor. During the week of rehearsals, each participant works on one piece by a contemporary composer, which will be performed at the final concert.

The title ‘Points of intersection’ – because we want to create conditions for fruitful cooperation between musicians of different cultures: Ukrainian and Western European. The mentor of the workshop will be the French conductor Etienne Haan, who will share his experience with young Ukrainian symphonic conductors.

‘Points of intersection’ – because we want to involve composers, conductors, soloists, more experienced musicians and less experienced ones, who are united by one thing – the desire for creativity and discovery of new things.

‘Points of intersection’ – because in the program we offer to combine the works of Ukrainian, American and European traditions: Maxim Kolomiiets, Julia Wolf, Fausto Romitelli and Unsuk Chin. We will hear what effect this combination will have at the final concert on December 10 at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, where each of the participants will conduct one piece.

The workshop will last in Kyiv from December 3 to 10. The event will take place at the base of the National Presidential Orchestra.
