Maxim Kolomiiets – Over Skyline

Contemporary Music Festival AFEKT Tallinn 2025
25.10 Tallinn Writers’ House, Black Ceiling Hall
DUO AFFECTUS
Leonora Palu (flute), Sveta Grigorjeva (poetry)
Program:
Alexey Shmurak (1986) – Carrot juice (2013)
Katarina Gryvul (1993) – Vacuum (2021)
Maxim Kolomiiets (1981) – Over Skyline (2012)
Arvo Pärt (1935) – Estländer (2006)
Leonora Palu (1979) – Toru (2015)
Jay Schwartz (1965) – Music for Flute (2007)
Sveta Grigorjeva and Leonora Palu intertwine their instruments for the AFEKT festival: flute and poetry meet for two sharp performances, as if asking, “Is there even a need for art when the world is burning?” We believe there is! Moreover, art can be both empowering and therapeutic — today, it also stands as an act of resistance against both rampant shallowness and the geopolitical situation.

In collaboration with the Conservatory of Amsterdam and docent Ralph van Raat, the Leiden Salon presents four concerts featuring Dutch (piano) music from the 20th century. Well-known and lesser-known composers will be featured. A nice touch is that three of these concerts will be given by (piano) students from abroad, a wonderful meeting of cultures.
