Maxim Shalygin: Blue in Blue in Blue

To the centenary of Serhiy Parajanov “The color of a pomegranate”.

On January 22, 2024, the concert “The Color of Pomegranate” will be held at the Theater on Podil to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Serhii Parajanov of the National Ensemble of Soloists “Kyivska Camerata”. The concert will be held with the partnership support of Donemus Publishing and “Domu Meister Klas”

The concert has a symbolic name – “The Color of Pomegranate” and refers to the masterpieces of Serhiy Paradzhanov, whose brilliant work belongs to the cultural heritage of three peoples: Armenian, Georgian and Ukrainian. The film “The Color of Pomegranate” is dedicated to the legendary Armenian poet and musician of the 18th century. Sayat-Nova.

Paradzhanov was always careful about the choice of music for his films. In the film “The Color of Pomegranate” mainly folk songs are heard, and in the episodes – excerpts from the Armenian liturgy, monastery bells, as well as the reading of prayers and biblical texts.

So, the concert “The Color of Pomegranate” is a musical meditation-reflection on eternal philosophical topics about the flow, the meaning of life, which the genius Paradzhanov raised in his diverse work.

In the program of the concert of the National Ensemble of Soloists “Kyivska Camerata”: The messenger by Valentyn Sylvestrov, Blue in Blue in Blue by Maxym Shalygin, “Hutsulsky Dance” by Myroslaw Skoryk, Chiaroscuro for c violin with the orchestra of Guy Kancheli.
