Maxim Shalygin: documentary film ‘Raising waves’

Maxim Shalygin is one of the most outstanding composers of his generation. This is the chance to get to know Shalygin and his work better. The Ukrainian director Anastasiia Suprun-Zhyvodrova followed the composer for some time for an intriguing, beautifully filmed documentary of over an hour and a half. The focus is on an extensive conversation that musicologist Stanislav Nevmerzytskyi had with the composer in the Netherlands. But the film-makers also traveled with Shalygin to his birthplace in Ukraine. The documentary was filmed before the Russian invasion and completed last year.

Free entrance, within Minimal Music Festival in Amsterdam.
