Misha Mengelberg & Louis Andriessen
Today we celebrate the birthdays and lasting legacy of two giants of contemporary music: Misha Mengelberg (June 5, 1935 – March 3, 2017) and Louis Andriessen (June 6, 1939 – July 1, 2021). Both composer and improviser friends have not only shaken up Dutch music, but have left their mark all over the world. A colorful group pays tribute to them in an evening full of ingenuity and friendship.
Count on surprises in written and plucked notes and reminisce musical memories in the ever new now. Including the formidable ICP Orchestra with Han Bennink, Guus Janssen and Michael Moore, plus Gerard Bouwhuis, Claron McFadden, Kluster5, Tomoko Mukaiyama, Joanna MacGregor, Felicity Provan, Oscar Jan Hoogland and Benjamin Herman.
The first experimental results of years of hard work behind the scenes are presented: the Louis Andriessen Platform, the beginning of a richly designed digital treasure trove and interactive source of information about this controversial composer.
