Monique Krüs: Volgens Maria Magdalena

According to Mary Magdalene: The least described, the most interpreted.

What do we really know about Mary of Magdala? With this concert, the Dutch Bach Consort aims to give a face to one of the most famous and influential women in history.

Extras, apostle to the apostles, sinner, wife of the Savior? Mary Magdalene is the most interpreted yet least described biblical figure. Her Gospel, discovered in 1896, brought forth a revelation in the form of a dialogue. But who was she?

Artistic directors Sytse Buwalda and Heleen Koele dive into history to craft a story where past and present meet—an exploratory journey into the woman Mary Magdalene truly was. The story is narrated by actress Lucretia van der Vloot and interwoven with music by Henrik Ødegaard, featuring a world premiere by Monique Krüs.

From March 20, 2026 by Nederlands Bach Consort at various Dutch venues.
