Ode to Brewaeys

Symposium: The lightness of sound

Ten years ago, the idiosyncratic composer Luc Brewaeys died at the age of just 56.

This event is the prelude to the ‘Fasten Seat Belts! Celebrating Luc Brewaeys’. Today the orchestra honors the special collaboration with the composer and shows how Brewaeys’ music continues to inspire, both in Flanders and beyond. You will also learn more about the composer and his works in a mini exhibition beforehand.

The Antwerp Symphony Orchestra provides its concertgoers with food for thought throughout the year, with an extensive framing programme around the concerts and the seasonal theme. Various symposia then delve deeper into the musical pieces played and their context.

Discover what connects Debussy, Saariaho and Luc Brewaeys during a conversation with Benjamin Beilman, among others.
