Olivier Greif: Requiem
We will one day reassess the importance of French composer Olivier Greif, who died in 2000 at the age of 50: hard-hitting music, born of a long spiritual journey, immediately imposing its tortured mark, mystical music reminiscent of Shostakovich and Britten, haunted by death, doubt, and the experience of the countries he traveled through, such as India and Niger. In the first half, his faithful interpreters Emmanuelle Bertrand and Pascal Amoyel played and explained his music, before Lionel Sow and the Radio France Choir took on the Requiem, a pivotal work by this visionary, beside whom many contemporaries paled.
