Peter Kerkelov: The Lost Songs of Sisyphus
After its world premiere in Balchik, the new work by composer Peter Kerkelov – “The Lost Songs of Sisyphus” – will also be performed in Sofia. An unusual musical and visual narrative for cello, piano, and electronics, subtitled “Ballet of Forms,” the piece invites the audience to witness not just a concert, but a stage experience in which music, theatricality, and visual art intertwine in a unified choreography. Cellist Stefan Hadjiev and pianist Veneta Neynska meet the electronic pulse of the composer himself, while visual artist Petko Tanchev transforms sound into movement and light. The Sofia premiere invites the audience to experience the mythological effort of Sisyphus as a dance in which despair gives birth to beauty.
