In this international programme, guitarist Stefan Gerritsen, cellist Katharina Gross and singer Fanny Alofs take you on a world tour.

We dance to light-footed bossa nova and groovy berimbah music from the slums of Rio de Janeiro (Mestre Claudinei) and hear bittersweet sounds wafting out of the windows of taverns in various countries: fiery Spanish duende (De Falla) and Argentinian tango nuevo, with Piazzolla’s wry pasión fatal as the star player.

A particularly colourful programme with Italian melancholy set to texts by Petrarch, dreamy old English love songs, strong anti-capitalist social criticism from Germany in the 1930s and picturesque Chinese poems, set to music with great sensitivity by Benjamin Britten when he was at the height of his powers.

And as the icing on the cake, a mini-suite of incredibly cheerful and nonsensical dada songs (Janssen) in which all languages (or none?) pass by.

The musicians explain the different styles in terms of music content and lard the whole with the occasional tasty anecdote about the composers or a suitable poem.
