Rens Tienstra: Brandon’s Voyage

In het najaar 2025 viert Kamerkoor NEXT zijn 10-jarig jubileum met een bijzondere wereldpremière: Brandon’s Voyage, een nieuwe kamerkooropera van componist Rens Tienstra in regie van Zephyr Brüggen. Deze muzikale odyssee is gebaseerd op een Middelnederlands gedicht over de Ierse abt Brandaan, die een mythische zeereis onderneemt op zoek naar zijn eigen waarheid. Op 22 en 23 november voert Kamerkoor NEXT zijn publiek mee op deze mystieke ontdekkingstocht vol zang, beweging en klank in Utrecht en Amsterdam.

The program “Stars of Heaven” focuses on two Dutch premieres: “Riflesso sull’aria” by Richard Rijnvos and “Le feu rouge foncé” by Piet-Jan van Rossum. Both composers share the same artistic starting point: their new work is inspired by “Trois Poèmes de Mallarmé,” a song cycle for soprano and ensemble by the much-admired Maurice Ravel.
