Rijndert van Woudenberg & Daan Manneke
In the program Fijnbenaarde Stemmen vocal ensemble Hollands Collectief and guitarist Stefan Gerritsen unravel the mystery of the universe through heavenly guitar music, tranquil choir sounds and singing glass.
Composer and guitarist Rijndert van Woudenberg mixes Eastern with Western elements. For Hollands Collectief he wrote You cannot travel within and stand still without. The singers sing and drum at the same time, like Eastern troubadours who want to tell their story. Later on, the voices mix with crystal glasses, a magical effect…
The singers spread out in the space for Mise-en-scene by Daan Manneke. A singing voice can be heard from every corner of the room. They depict islands (archipelago). Slowly the islands drift towards each other, meeting in both harmony and contrast, sometimes speaking a different language, like new cultures meeting each other. The guitar is the rock in the surf, accompanies the voices and is also a solo instrument.
