Three intimate monuments to Bach, Escher and Beethoven

At this varied concert, three renowned Orlando musicians play three monumental compositions from three centuries of chamber music. Shunske Sato, artistic director of the Netherlands Bach Society, will perform one of Bach’s famous solo works for violin from 1720, together with pianist Shuann Chai he will play Beethoven’s magnificent Kreutzer Sonata from 1803. Between these two giants of classical music, the Canadian pianist plays Katherine Dowling’s fascinating 1944 masterpiece Arcana by the Dutch Rudolf Escher, which, together with Beethoven, takes center stage at the Orlando Festival 2022.
