Rudolf Escher & Hans Kox

His very last chamber music work by central composer Escher is played in a combination of three very different instruments, previously used by Mozart and Schumann. In recent years, the Malevich Ensemble, a piano quartet, has played works by Van Hemel and Kox with great success on Orlando, whose interpretations have also appeared on Etcetera’s Orlando CDs. The young ensemble was unanimously selected by the Orlando teachers in 2019 for the annual Orlando tour. Unfortunately, Covid-19 threw a spanner in the works. They have now been able to give a few concerts over the years. Orlando Festival invited them to play Hans Kox’s compelling first piano quartet again.
