More than 700 students from 29 Rotterdam primary schools are participating in the 7 Every Child an Instrument (IKEI) concerts this week. Together with musicians from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra. On stage in the Great Hall of the Doelen.

Première of Drops by Saskia Venegas at De Doelen, a commission by Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and SKVR010. A very challenging project written for classical orchestra musicians (RphO), jazz musicians (New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra) and an eclectic ever changing group of young performers (SKVR010) that changes instrumentation at every concert. ‘The process of writing this was quite a journey for me but the result was very much worth the effort. I’m very happy to have made the young performers eager to play and explore extended techniques and get them dive into the sonic world of contemporary music.’ – told the composer Saskia Venegas.
