Saskia Venegas / Wilma Pistorius
Sometimes you want to scream it out. In despair about all the injustice and war mongering in the world. Composers and musicians are also looking for an answer in these confusing times. Ensemble Oihua, founded by Spanish-Belgian composer and violinist Saskia Venegas, is right in the middle of this time with its performances. Oihua (The Scream) plays works by contemporary composers who reflect on social issues and philosophical questions. City composer Saskia Venegas presents an evening-filling programme, with two world premieres by Hans Koolmees and Femke Sonnen, specially composed for Ensemble Oihua. This special concert evening celebrates the richness and versatility of the contemporary Dutch music scene, with a programme full of works that vary in style, language and expression. The concert offers a unique view of the creative voices that give colour and shape to today’s musical landscape.
