Simeon ten Holt: Bi-Ba-Bo

‘Bi-ba’bo’ written in 1980 by a Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt for vocal quartet has inspired dance groep Twyla Tharp Dance for a new dance performance.

With boundary-breaking creative vision, revolutionary choreographer Twyla Tharp continues to expand her artistic range with two world premieres at The Joyce Theater. Her company, Twyla Tharp Dance, also offers a classic work, characterized by Tharp’s wit, technical precision, and joyful ease. Unpredictable and dynamic, Tharp’s creations solidify her place as one of the century’s most innovative choreographers.

Simeon ten Holt

Simeon ten Holt was born in Bergen on January 24, 1923. He studied piano and theory with Jakob van Domselaer (1890-1960). In 1949 he moved to Paris where he received lessons at the École Normale with Arthur Honegger and Darius Milhaud. From 1970 to 1987 he taught contemporary music at the Academy of Visual Arts in Arnhem.
