Simeon Ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (arr. for orchestra by Anthony Fiumara)

Every year NPO Klassiek organizes the Classic Top 400 in which listeners can choose their favorite classical works. The 400 with the most votes will be featured on NPO Classic for a week in October. Of course there are real evergreens, such as parts from Bach’s St Matthew Passion or Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine. But every year also has its surprises with unexpected music that still gets a place among the 400 best. The AVROTROS Friday Concert makes a representative selection from the Top 400 list, which is played live in a varied concert.
