Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Bergwerff & Van Veen)

The organ of De Thomas exists 50 years. It will be celebrated during this year with special concerts. On Sunday 27 November they will kick off the anniversary year with a very special performance of Simeon ten Holt’s world-famous Canto Ostinato. In the beautiful church hall, organist Aart Bergwerff plays the Van Vulpen organ together with pianist Jeroen van Veen. Both have an enormous track record and play the Canto Ostinato with great regularity. With an introduction by Harmen Trimp, permanent organist of De Thomas.

Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Simeon Kwartet)

Simeon ten Holt’s most famous work is Canto Ostinato (1977-1979), a piece of “perpetual motion” consisting of 106 sections in B-flat minor. While the section order is fixed, the duration is flexible, often lasting several hours.

Tera de Marez Oyens: Mixed Feelings

During the jury’s deliberations for the Tera de Marez Oyens Prize, the MOM Consort will perform Mixed Feelings. This unique composition by Tera de Marez Oyens dates back to 1973 and was originally written for percussion and four audio tracks (intended at the time for Wim Koopman).
