Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Bergwerff/ Vloeimans)
Simeon ten Holt’s world-famous masterpiece Canto Ostinato is performed in De Koepelkerk by two top musicians, the internationally acclaimed organist Aart Bergwerf and the jazzy ‘all-rounder’ on the trumpet Eric Vloeimans.
The musical secret of the Canto lies in the intimate and meditative interplay between the musicians. All artists who worked with this composition speak about the link between searching, touching and connecting with music. The Canto Ostinato is often performed with multiple pianos, but the version you will hear on February 8 is unique. Because the beauty of this masterpiece is that there are so many ways to execute it. A true revival is now underway because many young musicians are taking this up and drawing full houses. You can now also experience this in our municipality. Bergwerf and Vloeimans will let you experience that the sounds of the organ and improvisations on the trumpet merge into pure magic.
There is also a musical extra on that day. In the afternoon of February 8, Aart Bergwerf and Eric Vloeimans will give a workshop/masterclass to regional wind musicians. Brass players from young to old are very welcome in the Koepelkerk.
