Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Bergwerff – Vloeimans)
It promises to be yet another extraordinary interpretation. While the organ performs the piece in its entirety, maintaining the hypnotic cadence, Eric Vloeimans weaves melodic lines throughout and frequently improvises over them. The occasionally massive sounds of the organ contrast beautifully with Vloeimans’ trumpet playing – which shifts between ethereal delicacy and powerful intensity. Once again, this performance – set within the composer’s flexible framework – will provide new listening adventures, unique textures, and fresh points of recognition. These two musicians are perfectly in sync and have proven through a series of performances that they can deliver a truly impressive Canto Ostinato.
