Simeon ten Holt’s Canto Ostinato, performed in a unique ensemble: Esther Doornink and Peter Elbertse play marimba, and Annemieke IJzerman harp.
Canto Ostinato was first performed in 1979 on three pianos and an organ, but the piece can be performed in any desired ensemble. The musicians determine the flow of the piece themselves as they play. This minimalist piece is one of the most famous works of contemporary Dutch classical music.
