Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Les Moucherons)
The Blue Hour is the phase immediately after sunset in which an enchanting, blue-tinted twilight forms the pivot point between day and night and between visible and invisible. It is a moment of wonder and transformation. In this anniversary concert, Les Moucherons sing about twilight, the moon, nature and the soul. The repertoire comes from northern spheres with choral works by Baltic, Scandinavian and Dutch composers.
Canto Ostinato
The Canto Ostinato by Simeon Ten Holt will be a festive part of this anniversary concert in a compact version for mixed choir, piano and guitar, arranged by Diederik van der Laag. The score offers space for all performers to respond to each other and to place their own accents. With the minimalistic repetitive rhythms and the open structure, the Canto creates a free space in performance and experience.
Jubilee
‘The moon glides along the windows…’ was the title of the first concert project that conductor Antje de Wit designed and performed with chamber choir Les Moucherons in 2004. With this project The Blue Hour, conductor Antje de Wit celebrates her jubilee with the choir and also her 25th anniversary as choir conductor.
