Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Natalon Quartet)
For the fifteenth year in a row, the Natalon Quartet (formerly Rondane Quartet) will play two works by the Bergen composer Simeon ten Holt in De Duif. Pianist Robert Lambermont maintained a close relationship with the composer, who wrote about this in his memoirs: “Robert understood best that the performance of the full-length pieces (after Canto Ostinato) cannot simply be arranged with a few rehearsals or by skilled pianists, but presupposes a period of maturation that amounts to a difficult process of conquest.”
The pianists of the Natalon Quartet, praised for their renditions of Ten Holt’s five full-length compositions for four keyboard instruments, have been making music together for more than eighteen years. This translates into unparalleled and crystal clear interplay. Four wings, one sound.
Canto Ostinato
Canto Ostinato inspires, moves and makes you forget about time. The Natalon Quartet, four Fazioli grand pianos and De Duif: the perfect ingredients for an unforgettable musical adventure for both the audience and the pianists. These Canto Ostinato performances are now part of a festive concert tradition at Stadsherstel, in which the authentic sound of Simeon ten Holt’s music is central, the pianists continue to challenge each other musically and therefore provide a special experience every time
On April 3, the Natalon Quartet will perform Horizon by Simeon ten Holt. Tickets for this are available here: https://horizon-duif.eventbrite.nl
