Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Natalon)
At De Duif, the Natalon Quartet will perform two works by the Bergen-based composer Simeon ten Holt. Pianist Robert Lambermont maintained a close relationship with the composer, who wrote in his memoirs: “Robert understood better than anyone that performing these full-length pieces (following Canto Ostinato) cannot be arranged with just a few rehearsals or by merely skillful pianists; it requires a period of maturation that amounts to an arduous process of conquest.”
The pianists of the Natalon Quartet, acclaimed for their interpretations of Ten Holt’s five full-length compositions for four keyboard instruments, have been playing together for over eighteen years. This results in unparalleled and crystal-clear ensemble playing. Four grand pianos, one musical voice.
Canto Ostinato
Canto Ostinato inspires, moves, and makes you lose track of time. The Natalon Quartet, four grand pianos, and De Duif: the perfect ingredients for an unforgettable musical adventure for both the audience and the pianists. These Canto Ostinato performances have become part of a festive concert tradition at Stadsherstel, focusing on the authentic sound of Simeon ten Holt’s music. The pianists continue to challenge each other musically, ensuring a unique experience every time.
