
Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Simeon Quartet)
On March 15 and 16 there will be 4 beautiful concerts by the Simeon Quartet during Catharina’s Winter.
They play the piece Canto Ostinato on 4 large grand pianos in the dynamically illuminated Catharina Church on the Simonsplein in Doetinchem. The location and atmosphere make this concert extra special.
Music, light and space flow together Canto Ostinato by the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt is the most beloved Dutch work in minimal music. Canto Ostinato consists of several short musical cells that are repeated; how often that happens is up to the players themselves. That makes every performance unique.
The Simeon Quartet has existed since 1996 and focuses on the compositions of the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt and focuses on giving concerts in special places and locations.
The Simeon Quartet consists of the pianists Cathelijne Maat, Esther Scheerder, Jacobus den Herder and Emile Engel. The Canto Ostinato takes you on a unique journey through a musical space surrounded by dynamic light.
