Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Van Veen – del Ferro)

Experience a magical Christmas in the historic Laurenskerk in Rotterdam with a special recumbent concert on Friday 19 December 2025. Let yourself be enveloped by the mystical sounds of Canto Ostinato, an iconic minimalist masterpiece by Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt. This unique experience is brought to life by master pianist Jeroen van Veen together with Aart Bergwerff on the impressive transept organ of the Laurenskerk. The duo is assisted by Mike del Ferro on the 2nd grand piano.

Canto Ostinato is a musical journey that provides space for contemplation, serenity and inner reflection. Ten Holt created a hypnotic soundscape with a repetitive, subtly changing pattern that feels like a musical mantra. In this performance, the warm sounds of the grand piano and the majestic organ come together in an enchanting dialogue that spreads through the ancient vaults of the Laurenskerk.
